The Furminator Dog Brush Review

If you have a dog that sheds hair, this Furminator Dog Brush is going to save your life (and vacuum). Keep reading to find out how I stumbled upon the Furminator Dog Brush and why I love it so much…

A couple weeks ago my buddy Couch Surfing Ori

furminator

Amazing Dog Brush

arrived in San Diego to crash my pad and help take care of my dog Webber while I’m out on the road. Ori’s stoked to live by the beach for an extended time, and I’m pumped to travel with my lady in the RV without the responsibility of having a dog for a while.

I love my dog Webber dearly, but am super anxious to have some time to myself where I don’t have to walk, feed and pick up his shit multiple times a day. Recently I placed a ad for a dog walker to take care of some of those things, but I’ve been so damn busy traveling and screwing off I haven’t picked from the hundred or so applicants. I did meet some cool friends from placing that ad though.

So, right before I left for the trip I was giving Ori the lowdown on all the things he needed to do to take care of Webber. I mentioned he may have to vacuum every other day at minimum because Webber’s black fur tends to coat the white carpet in no time. It’s quite a hassle.

That’s when Ori asked me if I’d ever heard of the Furminator? I said no. He suggested I check it out because our friend Craig had one for his dog Bentley and he swore it was amazing. Trusting Ori’s judgement we stopped by the local Pet People store and picked one up.

At first I had to balk at the price tag. $50 dollars for a brush? WTF? I wouldn’t even spend $50 on a brush for myself. Luckily my dog gets a bit more spoiled than even I do at times. Lucky dog.

So I tried this brush and it’s insane. If you have a dog, or cat that sheds fur you absolutely have to get this Furminator brush. I mean, it’s a must have. After having used it, I’d probably pay $150 for this brush and wish I had known about it years ago.

Not only does it shed tons of fur that no longer gets stuck in my carpet, but it also gives Webber’s coat a nice sheen and makes him so soft. It’s worth every penny and then some.

Luckily for you, I found a Amazon link where you can get the thing for around $15 or so. There is no need to spend the $50 like I did. However, I’m not complaining at all. Like I said, I think this brush is worth $100 and I’d gladly pay that much if I had to.

Let me see if I can find a YouTube video demonstrating this thing…

Another cool thing about the Furminator is that most animals really love to be brushed with it. At first it looks a bit intimidating and you may think it would hurt the animal. Not at all.

I can’t recommend this tool enough if you have animals that shed fur. I promise, you will be in love with the thing. You can click here to grab the Furminator for pretty cheap on Amazon.

Cheers.

Jason

PS: Here’s a photo that Ori shot of Webber. Sure miss the pup.

Webber

Webber

Webber is a Sharpei and Sheppard mix. Tons of people mistake him for a lab or chow as his mix is not that common. I love this doggie so much. I can’t wait to get back to Cali to play with him.

Thankfully, Ori is in love with him too and plays fetch like a maniac with him. Apparently he got Webber some new toy yesterday that has taken his game of fetch to a whole new level. I’m stoked that Webber has a good friend like Ori to play with. It’s really hard for me to trust someone with my dog, but I feel in good hands with Ori.

Thanks buddy.

Going Green Today

I believe that most people honestly want to do the right things in life. It’s rare that someone really wants to create havoc and destruction upon our world. We all want to be on the winning team and feel good about the choices we make and the impact we have on others around us.

Recently, I’ve been working with a company called “Going Green Today“.  They provide a tremendous website on how people can make simple and easy adjustments in their life to help others and the environment around them, all while saving themselves a lot of their hard earned money.

Going Green Today

Going Green Today

Being a realist, I know that many people don’t have the time and proper information to even know where to start when going green in their life.

They think it’s hard and expensive. The truth is actually quite the opposite. So, I sat down and asked the owner Scott Ankeny to elaborate on how people can really make a difference in the world without sacrificing a ton of time and money. Here was his answers to my straight forward questions…

1. Jason: Many people I know want to do what they can to help the environment and do their part, but they don’t want to spend a lot of money or exert any more time and effort since their time is already limited. What do these busy people do to go green?

Scott: This program is actually designed for busy people….some years back I was writing a column titled “Walking Lightly”. I received tons of fan mail from working mothers, single parents, fathers with 3 kids and 2 jobs, busy professionals with outrageous mortgages, who all wanted to be more eco conscious but were so busy ,staying afloat that they were stressed by the idea of trying to fit “green” into their lives.

When I wrote I kept to the facts, I only wrote about actions that would make a substantial impact on the environment, save immediate money from our costs of living and could be done quickly and simply…this is the foundation that I built Going Green Today on top of.

So…your answer is yes and no….this shift we have to make requires some extra attention and effort The good news is alot of what we will ask you to do together is about creating systems upfront (many actions will take less then 30 minutes) so that being green into the future, will take ZERO extra effort.

And in fact, some of the things we ask you to do, will take no extra time….many of these tasks have you doing the same stuff you are already doing, just going about it a little differently

2. Jason: Let’s face it, people are very conscious of their budget right now and many are pinching pennies with the current economic climate. How cost efficient is Going Green in someone’s life?

No…, if you desire you will spend $0 extra dollars Going Green Today. As you answer the assessment questions, we will be looking at 4 areas of spending. The areas and actions that you can do for no $, then we will look for areas that you are already spending money on (such
as grocery shopping) we call this “no extra cost”- I am sure you can save quite alot of money from this area of reducing your current cost of living., the other 2 areas are the ones you can spend money on, if you choose, anything we recommend we will give you the pro’s and con’s on a financial aspect.

We break spending actions into 2 areas, small purchases and big purchases. Small purchases are between $5 and $50, such as caulk to seal up air leaks, an early closure flap for your toilet, a water filter, a more efficient shower head…etc.

But we will show you how much you will save for each action…so if you don’t see the benefit, move on to the next action.

The same thing holds for the bigger Purchases, you could spend few hundred on a new more efficient appliance but will save 2 or 3 x’s that amount over a few years…these are really for homeowners and those who want to do long terms investments such as solar power water heaters or roof panels and get tens of thousands in savings over 20 years.

3. Jason:  Is it a hassle & labor intensive to Go Green?

Scott: To me, this is sort of a trick question and one that makes me smile. We are all so stuck in our ways that the idea of creating a new habit can bring up fear.

Look, this HAS to happen, we have to learn how to be lighter on the Earth…period…even if you don’t believe in Climate Change, just the shear environmental impact of our cultural way of doing things can be devastating for generations to come…just look at the gulf of Mexico…devastating and can be avoided in the future by just doing your part in making some simple changes that while different will not drastically alter your lifestyle.

So, to be more direct to the answer…some days it will be 5 minutes reading an article so that you are informed., other days 10 minutes cleaning your fridge coils and on the biggest days, an hour or two, at most on the higher level Green tasks( these are rare).

But truly, this is not forever and with our program and the green road map we personalize for you, there will be a start and a finishing end point This is why we do this for 90 days,
We can spread it all out and making it less intensive on a daily basis…working smarter not harder so that once you’re done, you’re done.

You will have done all the really big and effective greening you will need to do. That is the true beauty of Going Green Today, the structured start and finish, designed to hit the goals you choose so that doing you part is simple and can be accomplished in a short amount of time.

Let me leave you with this:

Choose one of the two options….

If you could do something in your life that took 10 minutes, saving you $50 from your cost of living and reduced your footprint by 400 pounds of co2.

Or

Do something in your life that took 30 minutes, left things about the same, saved you $15 from your cost of living and barely impacted your Carbon Footprint…

Which one would you choose?

Right, easy answer….well, this is what we do for you, we have you answer a series of super quick questions, we analyze hundreds of green actions and projects you could do. Then we create a personalized green “road map” so that you will have the whole greening process laid out for you, saving you time, money and much effort.

You can check out Going Green Today and get a Free Assessment on how you can help the planet and your wallet by clicking here.

Fiverr – What would you do for five bucks?

Last night I was checking my Twitter stream and I saw my buddy Travis aka Blink First post this update…

fiverr

This site Fiverr Rules

So I went over to the site to check it out. Hot diggity is this site cool.

Fiverr is a website dedicated to people who are willing to do all kinds of random stuff for just $5. Yep, only five dollars.

Within 5 minutes of being on the site, I had already Paypal’d a guy $5 to complete a task for me. I’m happy to report back that the guy held up his end of the bargain, and came through just like his ad said.

I think today I’m going to blow $100 on a bunch of random stupid stuff like having a woman write my ladies name in the sand, getting a self portrait of myself sketched out, have a guy say whatever I want in a cool English accent, and who knows what else?

Anyhow, check out this site because it’s really interesting to see what people are willing to do for $5. The site is…

Tubing New Braunfels Texas on the Guadalupe River

About 45 minutes south of Austin Texas runs a river called Gaudalupe. Locals tell me that the river is flourishing with water right now, which isn’t always the case. Apparently there have been lots of droughts, and not a lot of water to float down the river upon.

Looks like we scored! What’s new?

You know how we do :)

If you listen at the very end you can see the girl who flipped over in the last scene screaming for help. Craig and I had to rescue her from the water as she was in major shock and badly banged up on the legs from hitting so many rocks. She was bloody, bruised and freaked out.

Of course my dog Webber swam through the rapids like a maniac! Crazy dog. I was really excited to let him run and play along the river the entire day. He’s a champion and truly a best friend.

Your Photo To Mini Canvas Print

A while ago I got this amazing gift from a buddy named Phil Moulds. I’ve been wanting to share this with you for some time, but it was buried in a box while I was on my road trip. This may be one of the simplest, yet coolest gifts I’ve got all year.

Phil sent me a Mini Canvas of my dog Webber. He simply took one of my photos from Flickr and turned it into this sweet canvas. Check it out in this short video…

These mini canvases make great gifts, especially for mothers day coming up. Give it a shot. Just take one of your Facebook, Myspace, or other online photos and let Phil turn it into a real tangible print that you can set on your desk, hang on your wall, or gift to a friend.

You can visit his site at… http://www.minicanvas.co.uk ( They do ship all over the world).

Beatles Love

Last night I had the chance to see the Beatles Cirque Du Soleil show Love. Let’s just say I “LOVED IT”. It was an all around incredible evening.

I had seen KA before at the MGM Grand and thought it was pretty amazing. But this show was much more fun! If you’re ever in Las Vegas I highly recommend stopping by the Mirage and checking out the show. It’s pretty spendy, but well worth it if you can fit it into your budget.

Here’s a quick teaser of the evening. The video doesn’t do the night justice but it gives you a glimpse of the fun…

Motives And Morality by Michael Sandel

In this course, Michael Sandel speaks about philosopher Immanuel Kant and challenges Harvard students with difficult moral dilemmas and asks opinions about the right thing to do. He then asks everyone to examine our answers in the light of new scenarios. The results are often surprising, revealing that important moral questions are never black and white.

My Mardi Gras Experience

So, we left Austin Texas Monday afternoon at about 1 PM. The Garmin GPS said we’d be due to arrive in New Orleans around 10:30 PM or so. We couldn’t wait.

We’re headed to Mardi Gras baby! The excitement was rich in the air and Mary J was stoked with gas, beer and food. And Webber of course. And Couch Surfing Ori too.

While driving East we really had no clue where we’d stay or park our RV’s. The city was in such party mode right now, there was gridlock everywhere. We assumed we’d have to park a few miles out of town and figure out a way in. All the RV parks had been booked solid for weeks at $179 a night or higher. We had one prayer and that was Chad Mac may let us park at his place a few miles away.

Chad to the rescue. He said we could park at his place. However, he had something better up his sleeve. He tapped Rudy the concierge at the Ritz Carlton and let him work his magic. While cruising through Baton Rouge I got a call on my cell… “Hi this is Rudy from the Ritz Carlton. I have 2 RV parking spots right in the French Quarter for you guys.”

OMG! Rudy, you are the man! Thanks so much. And thanks Chad for being on the ball.

The RV spot was literally just blocks from Bourbon Street. We were smack dab in the middle of the madness. We couldn’t have asked for anything better! Of course it comes with a pretty price as well, but it was worth it.

So, was Fat Tuesday all it’s cracked up to be? I’d say Yes and No. Hear me out.

I had two separate experiences at Mardi Gras. The first was the wild partying, boozing, naked boobies, standing around like a herd of cattle on Bourbon and

Bourbon Street Fat Tuesday

Bourbon Street Fat Tuesday

more debaucherous episodes. I’m sure your mind can fill in the blanks. It was pretty wild.

During the day of Fat Tuesday I took my Macbook and Verizon Mifi card down to Bourbon street and broadcasted the madness for about an hour. People were loving it. (Especially the abundance of titties that were shown live). Oh crap, that doesn’t make me a porn producer does it? I need to go wash my hands.

Speaking of washing, I think I need to go clean my shoes too. The streets of the French Quarter are so disgusting. You always have to be careful where you are walking. One mis-step and you’ll be ankle deep in the nastiest mud puddle in existence. I pray that the streets are much cleaner today. In fact, I’m excited to see the French Quarter without all the craziness. I’ll probably take a nice bike ride around today and shoot some footage.

The second experience I had with Mardi Gras was a lot more family friendly. And to be honest, 10 times more enjoyable.

It involved hanging on the sidelines of the parades and watching the residents have so much fun. The action started early. Music was blaring at 8:00 AM and the city of New Orleans was ready to party.

People here are so excited and thankful because

Mardi Gras Parade

Mardi Gras Parade

of the New Orleans Saints and their recent Super Bowl Victory. This city deserved it so much! You could see the joy in their eyes, the beam in their smiles and the giving nature as painted participants heaved beads and Mardi Gras flare from the floats.

In my experience, the day time party and parades were a lot more fun than drinking on Bourbon street. Maybe I’m getting old.

I personally liked seeing the families and parade action more then the drunken booze fest. Of course I was still pounding Red Stripes at 10:00 AM, but it was much more pleasant vibe.

Recently I spoke with a guy named Tom Martin. Tom has a cool website called… My Mardi Gras Experience. You can see his site at… www.mymardigrasexperience.com .

Tom’s mission with this site is to change the perception of Mardi Gras and give people a glimpse into everything that is offered beyond the wild partying and boozing of Bourbon Street. Most people really don’t know this side of Mardi Gras because they usually only hear about the drunken crazyness and naked titties everywhere.

Trust me, it’s way deeper then that. And thanks to Tom for showing that side.

Well, I’m off to do some catch up work, eat a healthy breakfast and peruse the city. If yesterday was Fat Tuesday, I feel like today is Obese Wednesday.

I need a smoothie.
