1) are you a Gemini? Are you ADHD? If so, wow. That's where you get your energy. ;-)
2) I would keep the house and go on a mini-adventure first...somewhere out west and see how it goes. You can make longer range plans if it feels right. You can run your biz from the road, in the meantime.
3) I never believed that your stuff is just stuff. Well, it is, but as you get older, some of your stuff become artifacts to your past, like a trail, giving you some perspective on the present.

I like Shane's idea of an episode :) Tell me where to show up for that one... guess we'll ask Tellman. So... compromise with the girly-- see if she would mind taking a 2 - 3 month trial riding the RV. She may end up liking it. You do have an awesome life, awesome house, awesome girl, awesome friends... but... adventure is adventure... and the more you travel, the less you want to come back... the less you come back, the more you realize that stuff is stuff, and isn't all that important. I haven't visited my fancy computer, nice furniture, letters, books, etc... Heck... I forget what I brought in my car sometimes. SubLease your place to your cool friends, for now.

Yeah Kevin, I've been thinking that way be the best answer, just not too fond of paying over $5000 in monthly bills for a home that I won't even be present at.

Yeah I share your dream too, why don't you ease yourself into it ? Meaning, dont get rid of the house and all your possessions and plan a huge road trip in the RV all at once. Keep the house for now, and just get an RV or rent one and start taking small trips, get your feet wet. See if it is actually what you really want. Eben talks about people doing some emotional over-estimation and that your fantasies might not be what you think they will be. Not to discourage you at all, rather just go see if they are indeed what you think it is rather than take the big plunge and gamble that they are. So take some small road trips and see how it goes. Either you will be inspired or road weery and glad to get back home. This works both ways, maybe your girlfriend will realize she really likes it and you will have her sold on the concept also.

Jason -

I have had that dream. You should do it man. Many people die with regrets - don't be one of them. One of the great things is you can still work on the road, spend 5 days traveling, two days working.

You can do it.

I know exactly where you're coming from, Jason. I suffer terrible wanderlust if I haven't been traveling for a while and I'm trying to put things in place so I can head off around the world again next year.

But, you don't have to give up everything you have in order to satisfy your travel bug. Many people head off on road trips using their home as a base. Go to Austin for a few weeks and fit in everything you can along the way. Then back home for a while.

Looking forward to reading about your adventures.

Andrew,

If you make that trip you should create some websites around taste testing restaurants so you can "write off" most of the travel and eats on the trip as a business expense.

Do it, Do it,

Dude you totally gotta do it. I'm planning a similar trip for the beginning of 2010 with my girlfriend. My "plan" is to eat at historic and "best of" restaurants its gonna be rad.

I got bit with the travel bug when I went to Machupichu back in 05 ever since then I've been taking mini 3 month vacations and I find myself learning more about myself putting myself out of my comfort zone and I love it.

Hey Erica,

I can get over the flying when I need to. Flew to Vegas a couple months ago, and probably flying to Atlanta for the Dan Kennedy gig in November.

However, my urge is to drive around and see everything along the way. I want to swim in 100 rivers and 100 lakes. Surf every spot available in the US. And I want to be able to travel with no real plan, but just winging it.
