Introducing Marketing Monday
Marketing Monday
If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been on a blogging frenzy this month. My goal is to have at least one blog post every day. However, I’ve tried to do this in the past and every time I lost steam after a week or so and laziness kicked in.
But there’s a new plan!
The other day I was watching a video called YOU by my buddy Kyle Cease. Instantly after watching the video I jumped off my ass, went to the farmers market, and started creating some new content. Kyle always has that affect on me and inspires me to create like no one I’ve ever been around.
While driving to the farmers market I came up with an idea on how to stay more focused on this blog and how to entrench myself into the subjects and niches that I enjoy partaking in. So here’s the idea…
Each day of the week I’m going to blog about something different that I’m interested in. I’ve run into a bit of inner conflict before with this blog because sometimes I like to blog about marketing. Other times I’m into music or health. It’s not a very consistent theme going on here.
So Mondays will be all about marketing and I’m going to call it Marketing Monday.
Most of my other marketing info will now be available on the appropriately titled domain www.ProfitMoffatt.com. I’m going to start feverishly blogging over there as well.
So if you are interested in nitty gritty, money making info, that’s the place you are going to want to check regularly.
I know most of my readership came to know me from the marketing world and I haven’t always done the best job with message to market match and I’ve lost a lot of readership by injecting my own personal likes into my messages.
Some people don’t care about raw foods or the fact that I like listening to The Grateful Dead. They just want to know how to make a few bucks online, and I can dig that. So I’m doing my best to appropriately create content that will match exactly what it is the readers want while still honoring myself and what I want to do.
So…
Here’s what the daily/weekly schedule is going to look like here on this blog…
Marketing Monday (Marketing Tips & Strategies)
Tuesdays Tune (Cool Music Stuff)
Wellness Wednesday (Health & Growth Material)
Thursday’s Travels (Info About RV-ing & Travels)
Funny Friday (Jokes, Humor & Sillyness)
Saturday Snacks (Food, Recipes & Restaurants)
Sunday Spotlight (Spotlight An Amazing Person)
The reason I’m setting up each day like this is so I can focus on the items in my life that I enjoy and build a bit of structure to help me better accomplish the goal of blogging every day. If I can scatter the content around like this, I won’t get bored as easily and it will give me a opportunity to chunk stuff away ahead of time. For instance, I already have Thursday’s Travel blog done! So make sure you come back on Thursday as you’ll get to see which city you are destined to live in. More about that on Thursday.
So, without further ado, lets get into Marketing Monday!
Before social media was a household phrase, most marketers referred to it as “Web 2.0″. Everyone was quick to say that Web 2.0 was going to change the internet as we knew it and the old ways of selling items to customers was long gone.
Of course selling is never going to change much. It’s always going to be very similar no matter what the medium is. You find a group of people that are in need of something, you ask them what they want or listen to what they say they want, then you write an advertisement targeting their emotions and desires and you sell em the best product or service you can find. Easy peasy.
While droves of marketers were abandoning the idea of building websites or virtual real estate to instead spend time on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIN, etc I kept warning them that it might not be in their best interest to do so.
Now I’ll admit, I’m addicted to Facebook just as much as the next guy. In fact, probably even more so then 95% of people. However, I’ve never lost site of the fact that it’s so crucial to continue building your OWN web properties and not building other people’s all the time. Facebook is great, but guess who gets paid every time someone clicks a ad on the site? Exactly. Not you!
So while I think social media sites are great for networking, brand awareness and even traffic, they are a huge time waster for people who could be focusing on building and growing their own piece of virtual real estate.
This is the main reason that I’m focusing on writing on my own blog every day. When I create a post here, it’s in the search engine in seconds. Because of the history of this blog and authority status, I can dominate search phrases with relative ease if I keep the post on topic. If I build a few relative links to the post, it’s a great chance I’m cementing a spot on page one in the search engines.
So todays lesson is all about building your own stuff. Please don’t get me wrong and think I’m telling you to get off the social media sites, because even I’m not about to do that. But it’s a wise move to make sure you are spending a appropriate amount of time building your empire, not someone else’s.
Tomorrow I’m doing a webinar with niche marketing wizard Jason Drohn and he’s going to literally walk you step by step through the process that he uses to create money making mini sites with relative ease. If you are interested in making passive income online through FREE traffic methods then this will be the place to be tomorrow night.

looking forward to hearing about niche sites and passive income. thank you for reminding us to get involved with what we enjoy first and reap the benefits later, making us happier people.
That’s what it’s all about. Thanks Gabriel. Peace.
Hey Jason
Staying focused on the tasks that will actually bring in money is one of the biggest challenges I faced. As you know it’s kinda easy to get distracted by the next “shiny object” (be that a NEW fangled product or simply another techie skill you think you simply have to master…LOL)
That said I’ll be on the Webinar as your post inspired me to be even more focused
Be well
Phil
Cool man, see you on the webinar. I don’t get distracted so much by the shiny object, but more the weird and random ones. I’ve found that the best way to stay motivated on money making tasks is to just build businesses around the areas you truly enjoy, not the ones that a keyword tool says you should go after.
Jason…very cool bro…keep it up…the blog posts…they’re nice breath of fresh air to read about marketing without a bunch of hype stitched in between the lines. Yeah I like your ideas of spreading out content based on the days of the week and kinda mixing it up. I would suggest for the marketing posts….to keep them in a format that one could follow easily and implement into their own business.
Looking forward to the webinar, and now I have a reason to look forward to Mondays.
Could use some advice on traffic in the post Panda world.
Jason,
It’s nothing new to your normal subscribers that nearly everything you post is worth more than most so called GURUS’s try to sell you…. AND YOU GIVE IT AWAY DUDE!
All newcomers here should take heed and tune in to what you share. I’ve personally made huge advances in my guitar course thanks to your advice.

Hey man, glad you’re found new vigor and enthusiasm to get back to blogging, umm what happened to your focus and groundbreaking bold move into mobile apps?
You said “today’s lesson is all about building your own stuff” content, content and content.
Jason, I have to 100% agree with you. I tell everyone the internet is all about content. As in Storys, pictures and videos are all types of content.
If the content is done right it will pay off forever. I can show you content I did online 14+ years ago that I still get hits on.
I am talking material that is like back from 1996 and 97. Some of my old content from that time line is still online today.
Wow, I am dating myself.
The first ad I placed online was back in 1996. For years that ad remained online. BTW, I was there at the beginning of what we now call the net.
In April of this year I got an message from an ad I had written in 1999. I found 2 long lost sisters. The last time I saw them was over 50 years ago. Thanks to that 1999 online ad my sisters and I are reunited. The ad was all about content, that content related to who and what I was looking for.
My tip for the day is “build your content and they will come.”
Wow, thanks Jason nice fresh blog with some bold clear statements about blogging, and the weekly router looks fun great idea. Keep shaking those Jola maraca’s buddy, the last webinar attended with Shah was great and Socrates is a top template, well done. Be interesting to see where all this stuff is going, success. One question about your buddies video, is Rick Perry the real Broke Back Mountain thingy? Either way keep on trucking dudes, always gets a chuckle, 10/4 rubber ducks. I guess that just leads to a question are you thinking Market Samurai is a good way to focus when blogging on a certain topic for someone like myself who rambles on about everything I see, hear and observe, or perhaps the key is simply change my diet, who knows I will earmark the wellness Wednesdays and maybe hope to practise the Saturday Snacks that should make things better, right?
Jason — rock solid advice. It is so important to build content on a property that you own and “Control.” Nothing wrong with using social media to deliver your message to the marketplace. In fact, using social media to deliver your message is a great idea.
However, make sure you are publishing your content to a property that you own — not to a property owned by someone else. This puts you in control. You now have an asset that can generate traffic, SEO rankings, revenue and a list for your business. And if you ever get to the point where you want to get out of the business, you now have an asset that you can sell.
