This may seem crazy to some of you, but the truth is… before today, I’ve NEVER ate a salad. It’s funny because many of my friends on Facebook don’t believe me. They can’t fathom the idea that I’ve never actually ate a salad.

It’s a true story. I’ve always been freaked out by salad dressings, and therefore and have even attempted to taste a salad. I know, weird.

Anyhow, todays release is about letting go of limited beliefs such as hating salad and the idea that I’m not a good closer or finisher when it comes to projects. Check out the video below and you’ll see what I mean.

Cheers,

Jason

PS: If you have any recipes for dressings that don’t involve vinegar, I’d love to hear them. Thanks.

So, check it out. Here’s a pic of my very first salad…

  1. Hey Jason – congrats and nice one on recognising that limiting belief (it’s true, you are a Tony Robbins connoisseur). Seriously though dude, congrats on taking such a big step and sticking with your detox/cleanse so far. I’m sure if you’re calling it a cleanse (and a detox – nice seo spotting there) AND you’re a Tony fan then I’m sure you’re at least aware of the alkaline approach to health…

If so, gimme a holla, I’ve been writing, researching and coaching it for years and years so would be happy to help or have a look over your cleanse.

Either way – here are some dressing recipes from my blog:

Love, love, love the video. There are so many folks out there who say “I don’t like vegetables” when in reality they just don’t like cabbage. Crazy.

Anyway – congrats again on the cleanse!

    1. Hey Ross, I actually wasn’t doing anything for SEO purposes as I really don’t have any monetary agenda for this, just trying to keep myself accountable. Thanks for the dressing recipes.

  2. Hi Jason,

Thanks for sharing this mate 🙂
i live in Israel and our concept of a salad might
fit what you are looking for.

This is a typical Israeli salad http://www.flickr.com/photos/smitten/700544972/

One more new believe you can adopt:
A salad tastes better without dressing !

if the vegtabales you are using are fresh you dont need dressing.
a pinch of olive oil, lemon, salt & paper and you are set.

    1. Thanks buddy. I really, really, really need to learn to like raw tomatoes. Wow, that just reminded me that I had a dream last night where I tried tomatoes and tried to force myself to like them.

  3. Hey Jason,

I haven’t visited your website in years, since way back when you first started. Wow. What a change. Congrats!

    About the salad dressing…

When I first started experimenting with raw foods and homemade dressings many moons ago, I used to stick tomato and avocado in the blender with extra virgin olive oil and a bit of pink crystal salt and black pepper. It makes for a decent creamy dressing. I soon discovered that adding a few squeezes of lime made it even better. It brings out a lot of flavor. Plus, adding Vitamin C helps the body assimilate iron from the greens.

Lately, I’ve been adding a little cayenne or turmeric or chipotle when I feel like spicing it up. But typically, I just use olive oil and lime as dressing. The tomato and avocado both go in the salad itself.

Another thing you might try, if you’re so inclined, is using homemade guacamole (very similar to above, only thicker). Or, you could do as suggested above and use cold-pressed oil (olive, avocado, sesame) with lemon/lime and salt/pepper. Or you could try blended fruit if you like that sort of thing.

I also squeeze limes (or lemons) onto steamed veggies when I have them (broccoli is my favorite).

One of my favorite things to do is to make a salad out of cucumbers, tomatoes, and avocados. I add lime, olive oil, and whatever herbs/spices I feel like having that day. Sometimes dill weed works really well. Other times it’s parsley, cilantro, or basil. Depends on my mood.

Eventually, you get to a point in your experimentation where you just start spontaneously tossing things into the mix without giving it much thought. It gets easier and easier, and stuff starts tasting better and better. Your body adjusts.

When I was a kid I had a wicked sweet tooth, but going through several cycles of detox has radically altered my taste buds. When I eat something with sugar in it, I can tell right away. My tongue feels sticky and coated, and I often get a headache.

The toughest part is maintenance in an environment where you’re the only one practicing a healthy lifestyle. It’s tricky until you get the hang of it. Backslides have been relatively minor in my case, but I can still feel the effects quite rapidly. My body screams at me much quicker than it did in the beginning.

I’ve even had some fairly severe detox reactions that temporarily confused my immune system and sent it into overdrive. Not a fun experience. But something that had to be done.

    Hope this helps! 🙂
