I'm starting an incredible new book club, and I'd like you to join completely FREE! No Strings Attached.
About two years ago I was in the audience at a marketing seminar watching Frank Kern do a hot seat with one of the attendees. If you aren't familiar with hot seats it's where they take questions on stage from a participant and deconstruct their business for the whole room to see. Hot seats offer incredible marketing insights even if the businesses being used as the example are in a entirely different industry than yours. We can all learn from other people's business success and failures and make it relevant if we pay close enough attention combined with a desire to learn.
Anyhow, Frank randomly suggested to someone that they should start a book club sort of like Oprah. The suggestion was quite passive and flew over most people's heads. The person on stage didn't seem to really to grasp how valuable the idea was either. So they proceeded to another topic. No significant time was spent on the idea of the book club and they moved on like most ADHD marketers are accustomed to doing.
However, I've always had one rule that has served me well since I got started in internet marketing and that rule goes a little something like this… "Just do what Frank says to do". It's never failed me before and it's some pretty easy logic to follow in business.
So instantly I decided to create a book club. I figured it would be a great way to motivate myself to read more books, and to share things that were important in my life and my business. I also thought it was a genius idea because instead of just reading the book myself, I could converse with others and get varied opinions about what we were reading. I always appreciate feedback and different ideas from others so it's seemed like a win win situation.
The plan was set, I was going to start a book club. And I did. And I even decided to charge money for it. People said… "Who in their right mind would pay to be in your book club?".
The answer was about 50 people. So not only did I start the book club and get interested parties, I was now going to get paid a little over $2000 a month just to read a book and discuss it with others. Pretty smart hey? Yep, following Frank's ideas almost always pay off.
After the first month I decided to refund everyone's money though. I gave up probably the easiest money known to man by doing this. My reasoning was a bit weird. Truthfully, I became a bit scared. I had grand ideas of sharing some very intense books but after some lengthy thought, I pulled the plug. The stuff I had planned was too heavy. It may of tested people's religious convictions or political beliefs and I just wasn't ready for it. So I chicken'ed out and returned everyone's money and went surfing and traveling instead.
Recently I've been reading much more since I got an iPad. It's super easy to browser the Amazon store and have books downloaded to your fingertips in seconds. Sort of addicting. Last night I picked up the book "The War For Late Night" and blazed through about 40 pages before watching Conan's debut show on TBS. The book is an interesting inside perspective to how the whole Tonight Show debacle went down with Jay Leno & Conan O'Brien and more. Being a long time Conan fan, I was actually afraid to read the book and find some guy bashing him. So far, that hasn't happened at all. Whew.
So I've decided to revitalize the book club and I'd be thrilled if you'd join me and the group. However, this time it won't cost you a dime except to purchase the books to read. That's right, it's free to participate and become a member. I'll also make an effort to not include a bunch of books that cost $50.
In fact, the first book can be picked up at Amazon for just $9.32.
All you have to do is enter your name and email in the form below and I'll send you the info on the first book we'll read and you'll get all the other details the moment I have them. Please leave a comment below letting us know you are in and introducing yourself as well. Thanks.
WARNING: Please don't sign up unless you have the full intention of reading the book each month, and offering your opinion and feedback with the group. If you don't participate, we'll delete you from the database. We only want active members who participate and share with other members. Thanks.
good idea! Just ordered the first book.
Right on bro. This is going to be fun!
Awesome! Count me in J.
Sounds good man I'm in. Was close to joining last time but wasn't sure I'd have the time, I'm pretty sure I will now. I've loaded the first book onto my iPad already and will start reading it later tonight. This should be fun. 🙂
I’m going to make a effort to include books that are easy and quick to read for all of us that have time crunches in our lives. Definitely going to be fun!
Hey Jason, Looking forward to it. I am more of an audio book guy, but like this to stretch my reading abilities.
I will get it loaded on the IPad right now!!!
Cheers
Yeah Troy, I’m not the biggest reader in the world but I know how important it is to growth and expanding my world, so I’m forcing myself to do it more and more. The results are just too beneficial for me to ignore.
Hey Jason! Awesome idea and I just picked up the first book. It's actually been on my "read" list for a while and now I have a reason to move it to the top!
Great idea, man. Thanks for putting this together. I look forward to meeting everyone else in the group!
I like the idea, but don't chicken out this time. I feel we should all have our beliefs challenged now and then.
Sign-up and ready to read… 🙂 I have been contemplating this idea for sometime as well. I think it is a great one! I am looking forward to being a part of it!! Thanks for putting it together!
Jason, I've been lurking on your site for a while now and am super psyched to be a part of this with you and everyone else. I literally just moved two days ago and have had spotty, off-and-on internet access – but made signing up, getting the first book, and writing this comment my top priority. Next up is emailing my mom that I survived the move, whenever the wifi signal comes back.
sounds cool! should have the book in a few days…
Keep ’em comin!
