I’ve been a huge Chicago Cubs fan since I was about 10 years old. As a little leaguer I would watch all the games on WGN as Harry Caray would yell… “It might be, it could be, it IS.. a HOMERUN. HOLY COW”.
Boy I miss those days. Harry was such a character.
Nowadays WGN sucks! They play maybe 25% of the games max, and sometimes they even insult the Cubbie faithful by playing White Sox games instead. WTF? 
Anyhow, right now the San Diego Padres are hosting a series with the Cubbies in town. But this presents quite a dilemma for me. You see, the Pads have won their last 8 straight games. And since I live in San Diego I obviously route for my home town team. However, the Cubs are the true favorite in my heart.
I don’t want to route against either team. It’s tough, and considering the Padres are on a roll I’d like to see them keep it up. Taking into consideration that most experts and even the Padres owners themselves don’t really expect to compete this year (idiots are about to trade their best pitcher Jake Peavey), it’s really nice to see the club making a decent run. Of course they still trail the Manny-less Dodgers by a bunch of games. But who knows, they may be able to catch up.
It ain’t over til the fat lady sings! Especially in baseball. It saddens me to see the Padres management give up on the team. It was pretty cool to see them bring over Tony Gywnn Jr. the other day though in a trade for outfielder Gerut.
So, I’m at a dilemma of whether or not to go to the game today. The crowds are going to be insane on account of memorial day weekend. My teeth still hurt like hell from the wisdom teeth extraction the other day. And my Cubbies are playing like shit right now.
O well. If this is the extent of my dilemmas I guess life is pretty good.
I’m still undecided whether or not to go to the game today. I sure wish my lady liked baseball. That would make it a much easier decision, especially since I need a designated driver.

I have seen many people struggle with this dilemma over the years. Cubs fans will be in full force at the game . . . maybe even out number Padre fans (which is sad). Tough call! If you are a true blue Cubbies fan . . . I would say own it until you are completely converted to “keepin the faith.” You know you won’t have to deal with aggresive haters in SD . . . unless I was there :0

Your biggest dilemma maybe the DD and the feeling like you just got socked in the mouf!
I think I could curb the Designated Driver problem by just taking the Coaster to the game. Wouldn’t have to haggle with parking either.
I have an idea, Jason.
Go to the game, drink a bunch of beers (take your coaster), root against both teams, and become a Milwaukee Brewers fan. You could rekindle your relationship with ex-Padre Trevor Hoffman, and climb on board with a front runner. Plus you wouldn’t have to deal with the annual choking that seems to go on in Chicago each year:)
Just a thought.

Hey Jason, Great post!! I spent the day at Mike F. office yesterday and was out to dinner with Joe Jablonski last night and he told me I should seek you out. So glad I did as I was moved to West Lafayette, IN back 1970 (2 hrs south of Wrigley) and have been a cubbie faithful ever since. Just a glutton for punishment I guess. Back in NY now and working with Mike Ambrosio. Looking forward to meeting you one day and of course seeing our cubbies actually win the big show SOON!! The Best Always…

Hoffman went to the Brewers? I didn’t know any team would actually take him. I’m in San Diego and I’m a diehard Padres and Chargers fan. You can’t beat the trolley when it comes to going to Padre games. Drops you off right there and you just have to stumble back after the games over.
San Diego Padres should be always competitive enough to keep pace with the others. I really like them; they’ve always been my favourite teams in MLB. Just read about them here:
